ABOUT ME
Hey there, I’m Derek.
I’m best described as a startup founder first and foremost, with a range of skills and experience.
Over the last few years, I’ve done a bit of everything; from running not-for-profits and tech companies, to working at tech startups in various roles, to participating and working for startup accelerators, through to organising events and mentoring young entrepreneurs. What drives me to do all this, is the insatiable belief that good business can change the world. Especially when you bring technology into the picture, coupled with youth passion, and drive. I’m also a believer in making the most of our lives, and taking the leaps and risks that other people won’t.

MY PROCESS
You come to me with your problems and I solve them. This is my approach, whether it’s marketing, design, commercial, or any other type of work.
1. What’s the ‘Why’?
What is the goal of the project / task? What is the main objective - what is trying to be achieved?
3. How do we achieve the objective?
What is the best method to achieve our aims? What’s the best medium to maximise effectiveness while minimising time, cost, and effort?
2. Who are the key stakeholders?
Who is the end user of the task? Who is the ultimate stakeholder we’re keeping in mind? How does this affect them and what is their ideal outcome?
4. What does the data say?
Measure and analyse the results, what needs to change? What is working? Should we try something else, or commit more to it?
